Top tips for your Summer Holiday?!

Is your vehicle summer ready?!

🌞Summer Holidays are beginning!🌞

The Crescent Motoring Services team are hearing more and more that many of you are planning a staycation again this year in order to avoid all that’s happening at the airports at the moment. That must be why we have been so busy!

So, here’s a few tips to encourage you to think about at the same time as packing your suitcase as it’s equally important!

Remember to check the 6 things below in order to ensure that your vehicle is ready to go:

Tyres, Coolant, Air Conditioning, Brakes, Windscreen Wipers, Oil

Be sure to check out below before setting off:

  1. Tyres

Be sure that your tyre pressure is accurate. Severe heat (or cold) can upset the balance. Properly inflated tyres help you to save money as the correct pressure improves fuel economy. The right amount of air in your tyres, helps your car handle optimally in emergency maneuvers keeping you and your family safe.

  1. Coolant

Getting stuck in summer traffic puts a strain on the cooling system. Therefore the system should be flushed every 24 months and then routinely checked.

  1. Air Conditioning

A fully functional air con system is a must while driving during the hot summer months. When this system has a failure, it can turn a car into an oven in a short amount of time making any drive a very uncomfortable experience. Air conditioning problems can occur for a number of reasons, such as no coolant, compressor wears out, a broken thermostat or blockages in the air vents.

  1. Brakes

Regardless what season you’re driving in, you should always have brakes that are in good working order. Brakes are the most important safety feature of your car. Properly maintained brakes can make all the difference in adjusting to slick road conditions. Before you start out on your trip this summer, you should have the brake pads and brake shoes inspected by a certified brake specialist.

  1. Windscreen Wipers

Many drivers know, summertime is notorious for sudden and violent thunderstorms resulting in a deluge of water against your car’s windscreen. You need to have a set of wipers that can effectively disperse the water so that you can see. It’s even more important at night because the pounding rain can dramatically decrease visibility to only fifteen or twenty feet in front of your vehicle. Check to see if your front and back wiper blades are in good shape. If they are showing signs of wear, you should replace them.

  1. Oil

Oil is the lifeblood of your vehicle because it keeps your car’s hardworking engine parts running clean, smooth & cool. While some newer vehicles can run longer between oil changes, it is recommended that you change your oil every three months or 3,000 miles to keep your engine running in tip-top shape.
