Thanks to all at the YMCA!

Thanks to all at the YMCA who organised the ‘Sleepout’ on Friday 10th November. 2023 was the 15th year of the ‘Sleepout’ in Burton.

Crescent Motoring Services were honoured again to have been a part of the event. This year, our Business Development Manager Sarah and her husband Brian slept out on our behalf. So, they did this by wrapping up warm in a ‘sponsored’ cardboard box to ‘spend a night under the stars’. This was to appreciate what it is like to sleep out, as if you were homeless. They slept outside in a tunnel at the side of the Burton Albion ground. Others slept out in ‘St Modwens’ graveyard which must have been really scary and extremely open.🥶

The Burton on Trent community took along their partners, families, and work associates to participate in this event to support the YMCA Support in Burton. It is their biggest fundraiser of the year and to date and have raised over £25 000.

Thanks to all at the YMCA!

The why….

The whole event puts a whole new light on raising awareness for homeless people in general and the Crescent team all contributed in their own way, Steve Tallett also, as a volunteer.

One night can only give a glimpse into the physical experience of homelessness and cannot fully replicate it or the emotional toll that it takes on an individual.  It can open people’s eyes to the harsh realities that people have to face.

Sarah and Brian raised over £1500 on our behalf. We are proud to be sponsoring the YMCA all year round and the work they provide in our community.

Homelessness doesn’t discriminate and it can happen to anyone. Even after World Kindness Day last week, it’s important to offer help and kindness every day supporting charities and organisations who are working hard to help those living in crisis.

👏Well done to all concerned.
