Your car might be running fine, but that doesn’t always mean everything under the bonnet is in tip top condition. Regular servicing is key to keeping your vehicle safe, efficient, and roadworthy – and spotting small issues before they turn into expensive ones.
Not sure when your car’s next service is due? Here’s how to check:
Check Your Service Manual
Your car should come with a service book (usually stored with your logbook or in the glovebox). This will be stamped by your garage after each service, showing:
- The date of the last service
- The mileage at that time
- Any specific work carried out
Most manufacturers recommend a service every 12 months or 10,000–12,000 miles, whichever comes first. This is a pretty standard/average mileage guide so if you are doing a lot more miles then seek our advice as to when it’s needed.
Look Out for Dashboard Reminders
Most modern cars will alert you when a service is due. You might see:
- A spanner symbol
- A message like “Service Due”
- A countdown in miles or days
If that light’s flashing – it’s time to book in!
Check Your Previous Invoice
If you’ve had your car serviced, your receipt or invoice might show when your next one is due.
